How much does AI cost in ResearchGangs?
ResearchGangs does not charge for AI usage. The provider charges your own account based on how much you use. See each provider's page: Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini.
Who pays?
The owner of the API key. All costs go to the provider account of the person who created the key.
Sharing and access
Can my teammates use my key?
Only if you grant it to a specific project with "Use this API key for this project". The key isn't shared beyond that per-project access, and teammates can't see the key.
What happens when I disconnect?
All per-project access is revoked. Old conversations stay readable but can't send new messages.
Problems
What if my key stops working?
The account shows "API key needs updating". Use "Update API key" with a valid key. Per-project access and conversations are kept.
Data
What data is sent to the AI provider?
Conversation content and the files you attach (up to 3 library files per conversation) are sent to the provider you chose to generate replies. The provider handles data under its own terms. For example, Gemini on the free tier may use content to improve its products, while the paid tier does not. See Which AI provider should I choose?.
